Tour, guided tour and rum tasting
A special feature of La Rhumerie is that it was designed from its conception to provide a nice complete experience to its visitors. Architectural space on a human scale, created by its architect.
Ideally located in a fertile valley enjoying a sunny, planting the rum distillery boasts an exceptional terroir and micro-climate giving it a natural watering at appropriate times of the growth of canes.
Daily harvested by hand at the first light of day, freshly cut canes arrive in less than four hours to the mills of La Rhumerie. This proximity, this selection and the lack of “burning” of cane fields are the guarantors of the highest quality juice.
In its process of fermentation and distillation, the rum distillery uses the most modern techniques in the greatest respect for the environment. Here, nothing is lost; bagasse, cane fiber collected after sugar extraction, is converted into energy, the fumes are cleaned, ash and vinasse is processed and used to fertilize the fields.
VISIT AND TASTING
At the end of the tour, after seeing the copper stills and the cellars where sit proudly oak barrels in which aging rum, visitors can taste the agricultural rum gracefully Chamarel.
